Oh Essay my Essay

     One person can significantly effect others.  In "The Dead Poets Society" directed by Peter Weir, the English teacher, Mr Keating inspires the students of Welton Academy to love poetry and seize the day.  Throughout the story Mr Keating teaches his students to stand up for themselves, to seize the day, and not to conform. 
     The "Dead Poets Society" is a secret organization created by alumni.  The objective is to read poetry, by sneaking off campus to hidden caves at night.  This is just one way the teenagers of Welton Academy rebel against the rules.  Neil Perry's father is really strict and he makes Neil do things that he does not want to do and holds him back from doing things he truly wants to do.  Neil rebels against his father by entering the school play even though he told him specifically not to.  As a result, the students learn how to stand up for themselves.
     "Seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary"  These are just some of the inspiring words of wisdom spoken by Mr Keating.  He teaches his students to do what they want.  He tells them not to just sit there and think about the extraordinary goals they can accomplish, but to actually exceed them.  Knox seizes the day by calling Chris, the girl he believes he is in love with.  By calling her he overcomes his fears and suceeds to attain a date.  Another example of seizing the day is when Neil participates in the play.  Instead of thinking about it, he acts, and he very well seizes the day.
     The most important lesson Mr Keating teaches his students is nonconformity. Welton Academy creates an idea of educating every kid "By the book".  As a result every person is the same way until Mr Keating arrives.  He informs the boys not to be a follower, but to in fact create their own path.  Keating gathers his students to the courtyard and tells them to walk around in a circle.  Keatings idea is to get the students to walk their own way, to do what they want to do.  One of the students stood on the side and says he is "Exercising the right not to walk."  By doing this he is showing the most nonconformity of all.  Mr Keating educates the students to be different in their own way, to create their own path.
     The students of Welton Academy are greatly affected by the teachings of their unique English teacher.  Mr Keating inspires the kids to stand up for themselves, to seize the day, and not to conform.  Overall, Mr Keating significanlty changes the students of Welton Academy and inspires them to love poetry.  After the students make a very difficult decision that results in the loss of their beloved teacher, they let him know how important he is to them, and how they will never be the same again due to his actions.  They not only seize the day, they seize control of their lives.

Homework Blues

     As I shuffled into the classroom, I knew that Mr. Van Camp would never believe me. I looked at my scuffed shoes and mumbled, " My homework is not done, Sir. I do have a good excuse though."

     Mr. Van Camp scowled as he looked up from the papers he was marking. "This is not the first time your homework has not been completed. Perhaps," he suggested, "it's time to speak with your parents."

     "Please, you have no idea what will happen to me if you phone my home," I moaned.
     "Well, let's hear your excuse. It better be good."

     "Well first of all", I started, " I don't have any parents."

     "What?" responded Mr Van Camp.
     He then whispered, "Is this true?"

     "Yes sir, It is true."  I gasped.

     "Well then"  Mr Van Camp responded, "You are excused from this assignment"

     "Thank you sir"

     "No problem, I am sorry for this horrible tragedy."

     "Yeah, a horrible tragedy."  I lied

Cliche

After Mrs. Mitty came out of the drugstore, they climbed into their automobile, Walter fastened his seat belt, turned on the windscreen wipers and carefully pulled away from the curb. As they drove out of Waterbury he noticed...
how hungry they both were.  His wife turns to him and says " I am as hungry as a hippo"  He then tells his wife that she is overweight.  His wife unbelievably angry for no reason at all strikes him with a fist of fury.  "what goes around comes around", she said to Walter.  He apologizes for his rude comment.  "It could be worse, you could be fat, and ugly.  She hits him again.  Walter says "this isn't fair".  She replys by saying "life isn't fair".  They kept on driving like nothing happened.  He examined outside and noticed that it is fairly rainy.  Walter thought he would break the ice by saying a funny cliche.    "It is raining cats and dogs" His wife gives him a smug look so he thought he would just ignore her.  He speeds up because the cops are right behind him, he is going so fast everything is a blur. 

The Great Net

Bombs are crashing down and pearl harbour is going up in flames.  Every second more people die, as this is a very tragic event for the history of the United States.  The tragic event will not happen anymore because I come back in time and change history forever.  The night before the Japenese strike I warn president Roosivelt and all of the United States about what occurance is soon to be.  We all work together and place an enormous net in the sky so all of the Japenese airforce crashes into the Pacific ocean.  The next morning every plane bounced off of the great net and the plan is a success.  Soon after I travel back to the future and live in the present day that I changed for the better.  The United States never participated in world war two and I am the greatest hero known to man.
